I have my Mason "Stunned" for quite while now (more than a year). No other injuries, not hungry, well supplied with booze. He's extatic, no bad thought from beein injured, exposed to sun, dust or cavein - he never was as far as i can tell - (in fact, no unhappy thought at all) - so i am completely at a loss as to how he got in this state. He also running around my fort and performing his work... So basicly the only symptom is him flashing the stunned icon all the time (and maybe slow down a bit, i am not sure...) While it does not pose a problem, i am still curious as to how he got this way and if it is ever going to go away... Any idea ?

http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Cave_spider"These can bite tame animals and your Dwarves. They cause the victim to be randomly stunned for an unknown duration. " So Cave Spiders can bite and stun dwarfes and tame animals it seems. Never happened to me, but this might be the cause of your Mason's little... "problem"

You are most likely right. Now when you say it... I remember getting a message about someone beeing bitten by a cave spider. I was busy with a Ambush at that time, so i didn't pay close attention - not remeber if it was this guy or not - but probably he was. Thanks

I'm having the same sort of problem, the thing is; I don't have any cave spiders on my map.

I've got a soldier who about once a month generates the message that he can't drink because he's unconscious. I assume he's just a drunk.

He probably had some damage to his spine / brain, aka, nerves. That's a permanent thing, unfortunatly.

Little update... He's now in his 3-rd year of being stunned... I begin to wonder if it ever goes away... I would put him to rest, if he wasn't my legendary mason I would really like to find the message again to check if it was him who get biten by the spider. But searching this one message in the anouncements of a 15 years old fort is not fun... Is it possible to dump the anouncement log in a text-file so i can search it ? EDIT: Found the logfile. It was indeed this dude who got himself bitten. It's not timestamped unfortunately. I will look if i can date it based on other anouncements around that time. But it was definitely loooong ago. EDIT2: He got himself biten Somewhere Early Autumn 211... Now is Midsummer 215... I guess i better start training a new Mason, because i don't think he's ever going to recover...

Well better get used to this kind of thing happening, because as of the next version it sounds like there will be all sorts of fun "surprises" like this one, with more venoms and diseases.
