Does anybody by chance have some way to contact Toady and let him know about the temporary stuff here? I'm sure he's spending a lot of his time looking for a new host, but some way for us to have contact with him in the meantime would be great. Toady is here! Find his post further down.

Yeah, if he signed up to this forum then he could talk to us about the problems and we could try to help. We just need some way of avoiding having any fake toadies sign up.

Keep in mind server admin gets access to both IP address and email address. It'd be fairly simple to run a cross-check as proof.

Uh, yeah, I don't think any of that's correct. The email is at Stanford, which he doesn't attend (anymore, at least) The address is in Cali, while the cache of his information on Bay12 has Washington state... EDIT3: Toadyone [at] bay12games.com ? I don't think that will work, considering the domain is void... EDIT4: Hmm.. Sent an email to the above.. No immediate failure, so I think it might work...

I'll let him know that this is where our Berhamsted(i.e., where Du Gaule organized the Free French Forces from within Brittan.) is. Perhaps he'll stop by and fill us in.

Got a message back from Toady on his Gmail account fixing the email I sent to him ( ) So, we're not reliant on SA after all.

Good. SA isn't something you want to be reliant on.

Yeah, they shut my site down with very little notice (that is, we had been discussing the problem cordially for a week after their first notice, then suddenly they were like SECOND NOTICE! and pulled the plug). So, screw them. That is, Verio. In any case, I've got a new web hosting company, but they are taking their precious time. They said they'd normally have things up within "one business day", which was Friday. So I guess we're looking at Monday now. I'm going to call them tomorrow.

So, Toady, was anything lost when the site went down? How recently had you backed it up?

I believe he stated the 21st was the most recent backup. It could have been a LOT worse.

That's right, I've got backups of both the site and the forum database up to the 21st. I still have my old account, but I can't access the database as it stands. Once I have the new web space, I'm going to try to get my database information from the old provider so that there won't be any lost posts, but I'm unclear how that's going to work out.

They were just all kinds of mean, weren't they?
I'd think it'd be kind of against some kind of internet rule thing or whatever to suddenly pull the plug while you're talking about an issue. That's sort of shooting the liason in the head right there... No more caravans for you, mister web hosty place.
Were there any major changes made after the 21st, excluding the forum posts and whatnot? I mean, not that there's not some important stuff happening in the forums what with bug reports and feature discussions or what have you, but I'd be more worried about updates made between the 21st and now being gone... If there were any.
I dunno, I haven't been able to check the site in an age and a half. XD

Killing the liaison = siege. Too bad we don't have an army. Or the legal right to do it anyway.
