I'm about 98% sure that this question has been done to death on the regular forums, but since they're down I can't look it up...

How does one 'smelt' creatures? My goal here is to make warforged constructs at the smelter which are tame and preferably can be used much like war dogs. Or at least, which can be used to defend my fortress without trying to destroy it.

You can't do this yet. You can make vermin but they don't do much.

Would it be possible to give warforged a [VERMIN] token, forge them, take it off and use them?

Quite an interesting thought. I'll check it when I have a time.

Yay, thanks  Cheesy

I'm working on a magical mod, so of course warforged meat metal shields are a must for my civilization of sorcerers.
