What's the best thing to trade to the elves? I set up a craftsdwarf to just create good ol stone crafts by the bazillions, it's all I trust not to be "unethical." But at best they trade for 100* a pop, and more usually they're worth 20* to 40*.

Yes, stoneware would be best. Just make sure not to include the bins when trading. Damn wooden bins.
If you find some clothing made with GCS silk, be sure to use that. They are worth quite a bit.

I use gem-encrusted metal crafts, which can be insanely valuable. If you don't want to waste that much work, even undecorated metal crafts will easilly buy everything the elves bring. Or if you're low on fuel, stone crafts studded with imported metal.
And when trading clothes to the elves, be sure to check that it doesn't have any blood on it. Things stolen from dead goblins often do.
