1  Other Projects / DF Bug Reports / Re: Sparring Problem on: October 29, 2008, 12:09:17 pm
I don't think the Sheriff/Captain of the Guard will spar at all normally, though you could try drafting him and leaving him off duty.
2  Other Projects / DF Suggestions / Re: Real time action on: October 28, 2008, 04:03:55 pm
Sometimes I do think it would be handy to be able to have time continue on as I place cabinets and chests into like 90+ bedrooms.
3  Other Projects / DF General Discussion / Re: The Website Returns! on: October 28, 2008, 03:57:16 pm
To those who can't get to it, try flushing your DNS?
4  Other Projects / DF Dwarf Mode / Re: mixed ambushes on: October 26, 2008, 06:04:33 pm

The only way to have sieges or big ambushes without 80 dwarves is to remove "babysnatcher" tag from gobbos' entity.

But without [babysnatcher] they'll only attack if you're really at war with them.  With the tag they're willing to attack you regardless.

Unless you get lucky and fire the dwarven king/queen lounging about on the surface, they're nearly impossible to find.  You're definitely better off talking to human leaders.
6  Other Projects / DF Questions / Re: Getting dwarves to eat at their own table on: October 25, 2008, 04:27:03 pm
The dwarves will use the closest table to wherever they picked up food, regardless of whether it was the table the room is designated from or not. This means that they're all given equal priority.

The tables in the furthest corner from any entrance into my dining room seem to have the most activity for me...
Though on second thought I think these tables might be the ones directly under the food stockpile, so dwarven measurements might actually put them closest to the food.  I'll have to observer them a little more closely.
7  Other Projects / DF Questions / Re: Government in exile on: October 25, 2008, 04:21:19 pm
Toady still lives; I just got my 2nd ASCII artwork (it took a long time, but totally worth it.).  Time to donate again!  I have a burning need to discover the outcome of Doran vs. the crop-eating cave voles.

I wonder if the ASCII artworks are anything like powergoals.  Does the presence of crop-destroying pests in my story imply that there's the eventual intention of including crop-destroying pests in the game, and the loss of a crop will give your farmers a heavy unhappy thought?
8  Other Projects / DF Questions / Re: Lousy elves keep dying on: October 25, 2008, 04:10:07 am
I, for one, don't actively hate the elves the way most seem to.  I always enjoy buying their entire caravan with a single item.

I do wish they'd bring some cool animals, though.
9  Finally... / Announcements / Re: Jreengus occured. on: October 25, 2008, 04:03:12 am
I, too, was wondering what Ogame was.  Now I know, and yadda yadda yadda.  Looks interesting, if I didn't have a week full of tests and projects coming up I'd have to give it a try.

Your fortress has attracted a plethora of migrants this season!
11  Finally... / Various Nonsense / Re: So, read any good books lately? on: October 24, 2008, 01:01:01 pm
I just finished The Night Gardener by George Pelecanos.  Well-written book, though it was vastly different than what I had expected.

I think the wiki link should do an okay job of directing people here.  That's how I found this place.

On the plus side, assuming Toady is able to keep working as normal, once he gets a new server we should get a totally awesome dev_now update.
